Today we will discuss:

What a Piston Motor Consists Of

The piston motors rotating group has a swashplate, cylinder barrel (block),pistons, shoeplate, shoeplate bias spring, port plate and shaft.

The pistons go inside the cylinder barrel. The swashplate is nestled at an angle and acts as a surface for the shoe side of the piston to travel. The piston shoes are held in contact with the swashplate by the shoeplate and spring.

A port plate distinguishes the incoming fluid from the discharge fluid. A shaft is put in the cylinder barrel. In this diagram it is at the port plate end.
