Hydraulic pump repair

Posted by Tammy Soper on

You will come across three types of hydraulic pumps: piston pumps, vane pumps, and gear pumps.

3 Types of Hydraulic Pumps

Piston pumps are the most common and also the most capable of performing complex tasks. These are the hydraulic pumps that are most commonly found in manufacturing settings. They are the pumps used in high-pressure applications. A piston pump is a positive displacement pump that moves water by using a high-pressure seal that works reciprocally with a piston. This configuration enables them to operate under high pressure without affecting flow rate noticeably.

Vane Pumps: These are less common and simpler pumps that can be used for low-pressure, high-flow applications. Vane pumps are positive displacement pumps that can use a variety of vanes, such as flexible vanes, swinging vanes, rolling vanes, external vanes, and sliding vanes. The vanes sweep liquid to the opposite side of the cavity inside the motor as the rotor rotates, forcing it through discharge holes in the cam.

Gear Pumps: This is the most basic type of hydraulic pump. This pump is typically used for a single, basic application. Gear pumps displace water by using two gears that mesh. As the gears separate, they create suction, which draws water into the pump, which it then displaces when the gears mesh.

Wear is the most common issue you will encounter with any hydraulic pump. Hydraulic pumps, like all mechanical parts, eventually wear out with use. When it comes to hydraulic pumps, contamination and heat issues are the most common causes of premature wear.

How we can help you to solve this

Although familiarity with all of the different types of pumps is required for all of our trained technicians and definitely helps with the repair process, the problems that hydraulic pump issues face and how we resolve them are fairly similar for all types of hydraulic pumps.

We begin by completely disassembling the hydraulic pump so that we can visually identify what is causing the problem. If we can figure out what's causing the problem, we'll fix it. If not, we'll replace it with an OEM replacement. The pump will then be reassembled and tested to ensure that it is operating in accordance with the original specifications.

We will replace any worn-out parts with new ones so that your hydraulic pump is as good as new when you receive it. We provide an 18-month in-service warranty to ensure your confidence in our repair.

In addition to our guarantee that you will receive a fully functional hydraulic pump in five days or less from the time we receive it, you will appreciate that we have the lowest price in the industry for hydraulic pump repair. If you can show us a verified competitor's hydraulic pump repair price that is lower than ours, we will match it by 10%.
