How To Tell Good and Bad Bearing Plates

On picture #1 you can tell it has no marks, burrs or no dings on it. The plates is from smears, scoring and is not discolored. It is great condition. No reason for it not to perform at its best.
Picture #2 you can see it has smearing on the outer edge. They define smearing as metal transfer and the reason for it is harsh friction in between the rotating parts. The bearing shows you that it had a lifting cylinder block that was caused by excessive over speeding.
Picture #3 shows that the cylinder block side of the bearing plate has erosion on the balance land which the aftereffect is excessive internal leakage.

So only #1 is a good bearing plate to use. The other two give you examples of bearings not to use. If you have bearings like that, contact a dealer or a hydraulic repair shop to help you with fixing your problem.
