Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Series 20 Good & Bad Cylinder Blocks

In the top picture you can see this cylinder block is very usable. There are no nicks, burrs, discoloration or broken spots on it. And the face should be flat to seal next to the bearing plate. The piston bore holes are symmetrically round. A good block to use again.

In the second picture the piston bore bushing is destroyed. It may have been due to lack of fluid, over speeding, contamination or not enough lubrication and ran at high temperatures.

The last picture shows it to be fractured. This was probably caused by the shaft not being aligned properly or pressure that was excessive.

It is very important to pay attention to your machine while running it. Any noise you hear, needs to be checked out before you cause irreparable damage and costly as well.
