Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Integral Charge Pump Mounting Pad for Variable Pump
Variable pumps that don’t have an integral charge pump will not have a gerotor or drive parts installed in the charge pump body. Installing and removing the charge pump body cover or auxiliary mounting pad are same as the with a integral charge pump.
If the unit has an auxiliary pump mounting pad, take off with two hex head screws retaining the charge pump cover or adapter to the housing, take off flange cover and O ring.
Use a 9/16″ wrench, take off the three hex head screws that hold down the charge pump cover or adapter to the housing, take the cover off.
Take away the temper load rind and throw away. The temper load ring needs to be replaced when the cover has been removed.
On previous units, take off the o ring spacer plate, gerotor ring and pin. On later units, take the oring gerotor cover and pin. The gerotor ring and spacer plate is designed to be a one piece gerotor cover on pumps built after the first quarter 1986. The reason for the gerotor ring (or cover) and pin is for assembly.
Take off the gerotor assembly and woodruff key.
All the parts need to be looked over one by one, if you plan on using them again. If any of the gerotor parts needs to be replaced, chances are all the other parts for it too, may need be need to replaced also. And make sure o rings are always replaced. Make sure the woodruff key is free from damage or wear and replace it if need be.
