P50/P51 Tandem Pumps – Pressure And Sensing Unloader Pumps
When dealing with the flow sensitive unloader pumps there is a fixed orifice the valve that is linked to the flow preferences of the machine at a certain engine speed. Then there is spring loading that keeps the spool in the high flow position. Should the operator maximizes the engine speed, it will make the pump flow go beyond the settings that were programmed into it. In turn this will increase the hydraulic imbalance that is made, that makes it shift the spool and unloads one of the pumps section. Also, it saves on fuel and noise control. The design of the pump will give you the ability to downstream lines and give the stance to revitalize the valves to downsize to simultaneously and consistently run the pump section.
Pressure and flow sensing unloader pumps have dual characteristics. They can sense which way to react to first, when the flow goes up or the pressure goes up. And then they know which section to start with to give the right amount of flow or pressure at the right time with the proper settings. When you have a dual system like this it knows when to give high pressure work, whether your running or idling so you don’t waste horsepower.
