How It Is Important To Have A Balanced Motor Layout

When using a hydraulic motor that has two different pressures to deal with. First is a system working pressure at the inlet, then tank pressure at the outlet. This will give you a side loading shaft that might be sever at high system pressure. If you don’t want that to happen then the shaft side loading on the inner contour of the ring needs to be changed from circular to cam shaped. If you do this configuration the two pressures quadrants oppose each other and the energies will keep the shaft in balance, then the shaft side loading is no longer needed.

A balanced vane motor has a cam ring, rotor, vanes and a port plate that has an inlet and outlet ports on opposite sides. Both inlet ports are hooked together, as well as the outlet ports. This happens so that each of them can be serviced by one inlet or one outlet port in the pump housing.
