Reverse

When you put the control spool to port control pressure (S1 servo piston) that will reverse the way the flow goes in a variable displacement pump when it is placed in the opposite way.  The positive feedback linkage is still the same. The control spool is transferred to a metering point of view. The control pressure to the servos needs to be dealt with the servo piston spring impact and pressure drives applied on the swashplate by the pump pistons. And if you have a drop in pressure, the servo piston springs and pressure driven on the swashplate will have the swashplate go to the center or neutral position.

Diagrams show how the manual displacement control works.
