Series valve circuits lighten the pump flow to the tank when all the 4 ways are in the midpoint position. Pump flow goes thru each of the valves, then the pressure drops additive in.
They also have the potential to give the two valves a positive motion of being two functions by applying the exhaust flow from the upstream actuator.
You will need to be aware of certain cautions like the pressure and flow intensifying the differential cylinders and the effects of the back pressure on upstream applications.
The parallel series circuits block the pressure in neutral and use the pressure compensated pumps or some kind of removing valve. These types of circuits don’t have the dilemmas of pressure and flow intensifying and not insuring motion of more than one actuator at a time when two valves are going at the same time.
If you have parallel circuits that have unloading valves it helps with fixed displacement pumps. The circuit will open the solenoid operation relief to empty the pump. The solenoid on the relief valve is setup so that when it is engaged to the valve it is actuated and closes the vent on the relief valve.
