How the Flow on a Control Valve Works
Posted by Tammy Soper on
The discussion today is about how control valves work: All flow control valve, when properly used, always reduces the flow rate from a pump to an actuator. Consists of: A normal flow control valve consists of a valve body and movable part. The movable part in our example is a tapered nose rod which is threaded into the valve body. The movable part in our flow control valve is better described as adjustable since no movement takes place while the valve is operating. How it works: In a hydraulic system, there is many times a direct working relationship between a...

Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Series 20 How To Tell Bad Valve Plates In diagram #1 you can see there is contamination on the under side of the valve plate. It can cause damage in that can make the plate lift up. This will cause massive leakage and cause damage to the bearing plate also. In diagram #2 can smearing marks on the valve plate. This is cause by poor lubrication, lack of or not proper fluid used in the system and/ or high temperatures. In diagram #3 you can see the grooves that were made between the ports. And you can...

Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Series 20 Good & Bad Shafts As you can see in diagram number one this shaft has worn splines. It can be caused by not fitting it in correctly or not aligning it up right with the mating coupling. As for diagram number two of this input taper shaft it is great condition. It doesn’t have any nicks, burrs or marks on it. Diagram number three has a fractured taper that has broken into. This again was caused by not properly fitting it the coupling to the shaft or to much torque on the coupling retaining nut. If...
