To put this coil together, you will need to measure the length of the coil or spring before you take out the other one. Put in the recoil with moderate force that has the track adjuster housing on the press bed and making sure the spring adapter is in the middle of the press ram. PARTS NEED CLEAN HYDRAULIC FLUID DURING ASSEMBLY.  “O” RINGS AND SHAFT SEALS MAY BE GREASED WITH A VISCOSITY IMPROVER (STP OR EQUIVALENT) INSTALL SPACER AS NECASSARY TO PROVIDE. 001 TO. 003 SHAFTS PRELOAD.  SHAFT MUST BE TURNED UNDER PRELOAD, TO STRAIGHTEN BEARING ROLLERS AT BOTH ENDS, PREVIOUS TO FINAL SETTING OF PRELOAD.     SHIM .007 TO .009 PRELOAD.  SWING YOKE BENEATH PRELOAD, TO STRAIGHTEN BEARING ROLLERS AT BOTH PINTLE ENDS, PRIOR TO FINAL SETTING OF PRELOAD. John Deere 655B/755B Crawler – Front Idler

Make sure to put your crawler on about 6 inches above the ground to work on it. You then can look at the gap that is between the guide block assy and the wear strip that is on either side of the idler. Need to maximize the operating gap. If you have a gap that goes beyond.120 inches, take off two cap screws. Prise up between the inner guide and guide block assy. Put in shims in between the top of the block and inner guide when you need to. Gap should be at 0-1 which is .040 inches. If...
